Well you installed the update, nobody else. You knew PT10 wasn't compatible with Mavericks so why didn't you uninstall it BEFORE you installed Mavericks? Your fault, not Avid's or Apple's. It's been mentioned many times here on the DUC. Well at one time or another you must have used PT10 even though you no longer do and that doesn't excuse you for not doing your homework about not being able to uninstall PT10 when using Mavericks. You say you don't research programs you don't use but ones you do use. But I don't appreciate the insinuation that I was somehow negligent. I greatly appreciate your answer to my question. ![]() That said, in more than 25 years of using Macs (and I usually have at least 4 or 5 at once), this is the first time I've ever encountered mention of software that literally cannot be uninstalled if necessary. I researched everything I need to use, then installed Mavericks. I thought I'd made that clear, but perhaps you missed it.īefore installing Mavericks, I was quite clear that Pro Tools wasn't yet compatible with it - but that didn't concern me, because I knew I wouldn't need to launch Pro Tools anytime soon. I check compatibility for apps I use, not for apps I don't use. And not just for Avid software but in-situ OS X upgrades can become a mess, it is much better to do a clean install and reinstall any needed application software. Which is also something Avid advises doing when you upgraded OS X. Or you can try to manually uninstall Pro Tools components (especially if you don't intend to ever use Pro Tools again and just want do ace back), Or the best thing would be to do a complete clean install (or recovery) of Maverics into this Mac. Or you can try to manually uninstall Pro Tools components (especially if you don't intend to ever use Pro Tools again and just want to get the space back), Or the best thing would be to do a complete clean install (or recovery) of Maverics into this Mac. You can just ignore it and remember next time to check app compatibility issues before upgrading. Pro Tools 11 deliberately installs differently that 10. If so, I'm thinking I could install PT 11 (the trial version, for now) - then immediately uninstall it, thereby effectively uninstalling PT 10, as well. If I install PT 11, will it overwrite PT 10? I'm hoping it will (at least optionally). But now, literally being unable to uninstall PT 10 is a problem. ![]() O_OĪgain, since I seldom use PT, I wasn't concerned about immediate compatibility with Mavericks. So, I thought I'd uninstall PT 10, except Avid reports that once Mavericks is installed, the PT 10 uninstaller doesn't work. I'll need PT eventually, but I don't need it now. But I'm experiencing some general sluggishness, so I'd like to uninstall anything I'm not using. Since installing Mavericks, I have not launched Pro Tools at all. I had PT 10 HD on a Mac Pro running Mountain Lion, and I recently installed Mavericks.
